Ready to take on the water, but not sure if your boat can pull tubes? We have good news – we can help get your boat watersports ready! Turboswing is a universal ski tow bar designed to work cooperatively with your boat’s outboard motor. Most outboard-powered boats can be outfitted with a Turboswing tow bar no matter how it is equipped, meaning that there’s a good chance your boat can be used for watersports with its current setup.

In this guide we’ll cover what you need to know about making Turboswing work with some common accessories you might already have equipped on your boat, how to measure for clearance around your motor, and how you can mount Turboswing around an outboard motor.

Pull Tubes from Nearly Any Boat by Adding a TurboSwing

When it comes to choosing a ski tow bar for outboard boats you have options, so you might be asking yourself - why choose Turboswing? The answer lies in the tow bar’s design.

Turboswing is designed to work cooperatively with virtually any outboard motor, whether you’re planning to pull from a runabout, pontoon boat, fishing boat, cruiser, or other boat style. Its universal motor bracket installation takes advantage of your boat’s existing equipment, using the motor mount bolts that are already there to attach to the strongest part of your boat, the transom, making the tow bar versatile enough to fit nearly any outboard-powered boat.

Mounting to the transom makes Turboswing strong and durable, so it doesn’t have the same restrictions as many factory-installed tow points. While these tow points can’t handle the strain of the pull, Turboswing takes on the challenge with ease and even makes it possible to tow multiple riders at once. Turboswing also outperforms the competition. By elevating the tow rope above the wake, your riders get a smoother, more consistent pull for tubing, wakeboarding, kneeboarding, and water skiing.

IMPORTANT NOTE: TurboSwing is the only product on the market that's rated to tow tubes. Alternative towing solutions like ski pylons, wakeboard towers, and factory-installed tow points come with a warning against the use of the product to pull tubes. TurboSwing, on the other hand, is uniquely designed and engineered to pull tubes and other watersports riders with ease.

How to Install Turboswing with Other Boat Accessories

You might be worried that Turboswing won’t work with your boat’s current setup, but you can accommodate accessories such as swim ladders, power poles, and kicker motors with just a few simple steps:

  1. Pick the Right Size: The most important step to ensuring that Turboswing will work with your boat is selecting the right size. Start by using our Online Configurator to determine which Turboswing is right for your boat based on the number of engines it has, and their manufacturer and horsepower. Our Configurator will then tell you which size tow bar should be right for your boat.
  2. Take Measurements: Although Turboswing is designed for a universal fit, it isn’t a one size fits all tow bar. That’s why we offer different models to account for the variety of accessories you might have installed on your boat, and the different ways you might have installed them. To check that the Turboswing our Configurator recommended for you can be properly installed based on your boat’s specific setup, we suggest that you grab a measuring tape, and follow the instructions in the next section.

How to Measure for Clearance

To be installed properly, Turboswing will need enough clearance around your boat’s existing accessories. To check which dimensions your new tow bar will need in order for this to happen, you’ll need to measure the distance around your motor, taking into account any accessories that may be installed around it.

To measure for clearance around your motor, use your measuring tape and measure the distance from the center of your motor outwards to each side. Then, trim your motor from side to side, checking that the outer width of your selected tow bar model leaves ample clearance for both your motor and any accessories it may potentially come into contact with. The chart below shows you the dimensions of our ski tow bar models, so you can match your measurements to the right model.

How to Mount Turboswing

After you have selected the right Turboswing model for your boat, you can start planning for installation.

Installation is quick and easy, and your new Turboswing will come with the nuts, bolts, plates, and other components you will need to mount it to your boat’s existing motor bracket or transom. To complete the installation, you will also need to have a measuring tape, a drill with a 12mm or 12” drill bit, and a non-PVC, non-silicone sealant on hand, so you may want to pick those up before your tow bar arrives if you do not have them already.

Get Your Boat Watersports Ready

After you have installed your Turboswing ski tow bar and checked that the bar and pulleys do not come into contact with the motor or other accessories you may have equipped on your boat, your boat will be watersports ready! Our inflatable water tubes go great with Turboswing, and we offer a variety of tube options to accommodate different numbers of riders and riding experiences.
